Using Modern Equipment to Enhance Officer Safety & Reduce Crime

The Volusia Sheriff’s Office (VSO) will use the JAG funds for the purchase of much needed equipment in an effort to enhance officer safety and reduce the risk of in-the-line-of duty deaths of our officers, as well as reduce crime. Specifically, the VSO will use JAG funds to purchase six (6) Vanguard Shields. These shields will provide advanced ballistic protection during times of high violence. Funds will also be used to purchase six (6) ballistic helmets for members of the VSO Bomb Team. These helmets will also provide ballistic protection during investigations involving explosive devices.
