Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $57,218)

The Idaho Falls Police Department is requesting JAG funding for the acquisition of license plate readers (LPRs). The Police Department is working closely with other local Law Enforcement Agencies up and down the I-15 corridor to reduce drug and human trafficking. Currently we don’t have license plate readers to assist in our Trafficking reduction operation. These LPRs would greatly assist in enhancing our tracking and monitoring of these crimes. These LPRs will allow our local agencies to share data, images and tracking in a more efficient way. Any overages in purchase cost will be covered by the Idaho Falls Police Department.
The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office is requesting JAG funding for the acquisition of a digital fingerprint machine. The Sheriff’s Office is mandated to fingerprint all individuals booked into the Bonneville County Jail on local, state, and federal criminal charges. One of our current digital fingerprint machines is no longer systematically supported. A new digital fingerprint machine will allow our jail to replace the unsupported machine. The new machine will be fully compatible with all systems utilized within the state of Idaho and facilitate the electronic transmission of criminal fingerprint records to the state authorities. Any overages in purchase cost will be covered by the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office.
