The FY24 Edward Byrne Memorial JAG Program makes $59,776 available to Atlantic City and Atlantic County. The grantee plans to use funds to enhance officer safety and operational readiness by purchasing tactical equipment. Specifically, the department plans to acquire tactical type III special threat ICW plates, external outer carrier vests designed to accommodate these plates, and level IIIA ballistic helmets with face shields. This equipment will significantly improve ballistic protection for officers, particularly in active shooter situations, directly supporting the project's goal to enhance tactical preparedness.
The Atlantic City Police Department will manage all aspects of performance measurement data collection and submit required post-award reports in compliance with the grant’s guidelines. This initiative will strengthen officer safety and preparedness, aligning with key public safety goals.
