Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $66,670)

Fort Bend County is a rapidly growing area with increased law enforcement demands. This grant proposal seeks funding to support various initiatives aimed at enhancing public safety. The proposed budget includes equipment purchases for community violence intervention, transparency technologies, and other areas.

The Constables' Offices request radio equipment, entry tools, and medical supplies for emergency response. The Sheriff's Office seeks speed trailers for traffic data collection and bracelets for Project Lifesaver to assist in finding missing individuals. The District Attorney's Office needs digital forensics equipment for mobile investigations, and the County Attorney's Office requires a wireless lock installation. The Juvenile Probation Department requests two-way radios for communication and response.

The county will implement relevant policies and procedures for procurement and tracking of grant expenditures. The Purchasing Department works with the County Auditor to ensure proper use of grant funds. The requested items will benefit the community by improving law enforcement efficiency, safety, and community relations. The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant is crucial for achieving these goals.
