Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $67,603)
The disparate jurisdictions of Gaston County and the City of Gastonia will use JAG funds for emergency response medical supplies, training supplies, and safety and security equipment. Specifically, the Gaston County Police Department will use JAG funds to purchase Headrest IFAK Kits and NAR Trauma Shears for 50 patrol vehicles, enabling officers to provide immediate first aid to injured individuals. The Gaston County Sheriff’s Office will use JAG funds to enhance daily operations and expand K9 Unit operations. This includes purchasing two Motorola handheld radios to enhance jail and civil process communications, as well as K9 detection and medical kits, grooming and kennel supplies, and tactical gear to support K9 training operations. The Gastonia Police Department will use JAG funds to purchase Thermal Imaging Devices for its Domestic Violence Unit and cover the annual fee for 15 License Plate Readers, enhancing investigative efforts and supporting crime reduction in the community.
