Criminal Investigations Support and Enhancement Initiative

The Maui Police Department will use JAG funds for training and travel related expenses for investigators, crime scene specialists, and prosecuting attorneys to ensure they receive the most current specialized training courses available from nationally recognized industry leading providers. The funds will also be used to purchase a driver scanner as there is no existing equipment that will allow the investigator to be proficient. The training and equipment are part of the Criminal Investigations Support and Enhancement Initiative. This project provides support and enhancement to the investigative capabilities of the Maui Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division and the County of Maui’s Department of Prosecuting Attorney’s vital role in the criminal justice system of working to uphold justice, deter crime, and protect residents and visitors of the County of Maui.
