Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $83,378)

The City of Glendale Police Department will use JAG funds to upgrade its Real-Time Crime Center (RTCC) camera systems to improve live camera footage, provide real-time analytics during in-progress incidents, and research historical crime. Powerful technology solutions like hi-resolution and license plate recognition (LPR) cameras have proven to be effective in capturing data and images of suspected vehicles of homicides, human trafficking, stolen vehicles, and wanted persons. In addition, these camera systems have been instrumental in multi-jurisdictional crimes, using the captured data to increase the solvability of crimes by providing a pattern, path, and/or location of suspects before and after an incident. By utilizing both camera systems in geographical hotspot locations within the City of Glendale, the department will prevent and solve criminal activity thereby increasing the safety of all residents.
