Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $108,386)
The County of Nassau, New York, will utilize JAG funds to support the goal of improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the criminal justice services system in order to reduce crime, thereby promoting public safety. Specifically, funding will cover overtime funding for Nassau County Police Department personnel to conduct evidence based and smart policing anti-crime operations in areas where there are high incidences of crimes, as identified through crime analysis and intelligence development. Additionally, funding will be utilized to support an annual Wellness Conference, which will not only help to reduce the stigma associated with seeking mental health and wellness services within the criminal justice community, but it will enable law enforcement members to incorporate wellness practices into the execution of their daily duties, both personally and professionally.
