Bakersfield Police Department Bomb Squad Robot

The City of Bakersfield's police department plans on using the Justice Assistance Grant funding to upgrade their bomb squad robot. The current robot breaks down frequently, making it more difficult and dangerous for the officers to do their jobs. It is also required of bomb squads to have a functioning robot to meet federal criteria for bomb squad certification. The City plans on addressing these issues with upgrades to the current robot's functionality and equipment. These upgrades include expanding critical functions the robot can perform, replacing faulty parts for enahcing mobility and operation, and including real-time video and audio footage for high performance. The City's police department will be more efficient, safe, and perform more sophisticated functions to complex threats.
