Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $144,001)

The South Bend Police Department, in conjunction with the Saint Joseph County Police Department as parts of a disparate jurisdiction, are applying for the 2024 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Annual Grant Program: Local Solicitation in the amount of $144,001. It was agreed by all departments that the funds would be distributed with each department receiving the following amounts based on FBI Crime Statistics/Population. South Bend will receive $133,552, and St. Joseph County will receive $10,449.

It was also agreed that the City of South Bend/South Bend Police Department would be the administrator for this grant. Each agency will be responsible for tracking individual grant statistics in regard to funds used, equipment purchased, methodology and goals attained. The generated information will be forwarded to the South Bend Police Department which will be in charge of grant reporting to the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, and Bureau of Justice Assistance.
