Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $157,634)

The Tampa Police Department engages in strategic planning and collaborates with various criminal justice entities at both local and state levels. They engage in collaborative task forces with state law enforcement agencies, ensuring coordination and cooperation on extensive criminal justice initiatives. TPD collaborates with the Tampa Bay Project Safe Neighborhoods Task Force, Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Central Florida HIDTA Colombian/South American initiative, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Temple Terrace Police Department, and University of South Florida Police.

A significant evidence-based program is the 'Micro-Hot Spot' policing initiative, which utilizes real-time data to effectively identify and address areas with high crime rates. This program has effectively decreased crime rates through the strategic allocation of officers and resources. The community policing model cultivates collaborations with local organizations and residents, enhancing trust and mitigating crime rates. The programs emphasize the importance of collaboration and evidence-based methods, directing the execution of strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing public safety and community relations in Tampa.

The Tampa Police Department has established management, financial, and compliance policies to effectively receive and manage JAG funding in accordance with Federal, State, and local laws. Under FY2024 JAG funding, the department will maintain collaboration and share information with these partners.
