Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $170,852)
The City of Bayonne, City of Hoboken, Jersey City, the City of Union City and the Town of West New York will utilize Fiscal Year 2024 JAG funding to implement projects that encompass the purpose area of law enforcement and technology programs. One municipality is utilizing their funding for continued Quality of Life overtime patrols in high crime target areas. Other municipalities are using FY24 JAG funding to replace outdated and obsolete portable radios, purchase an automated license plate recognition system, and purchase body-worn cameras and ballistic shields as part of an Enhanced Patrol Officer Program to help protect officers, citizens and school children. Two municipalities are purchasing are purchasing desktop computers to increase officer reporting efficiency to facilitate the exchange of information with other agencies. The County of Hudson, through the Prosecutor’s Office will serve as the fiscal agent for the award and will not receive funding.
