Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $199,558)

The FY24 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program (JAG) in Passaic County is a joint project between the cities of Clifton, Passaic, and Paterson, New Jersey. The City of Passaic is serving as the lead applicant/fiscal agent for the necessary purposes of this grants administration. The Police Departments for all these cities frequently collaborate on critical incident response operations and emergencies that include acts of terrorism, active shooters, and natural disaster response, through a formal mutual aid agreement with the County of Passaic and neighboring communities.
Each of these urban municipalities are often required to seek out creative strategies and techniques to reduce criminal activity and illicit behavior within their individual communities, and these efforts are further exasperated by the dwindling resources available in both man-power and municipal budget funding. All three departments would greatly benefit from funding received through the FY 2024 JAG program. Funding received will provide each department with the ability to purchase much-needed equipment to aid in daily public safety activities
