Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $252,873)

The City of Cincinnati - Special Investigations Section Overtime will provide specialized Police investigations throughout the City of Cincinnati and for criminal task force projects. The Cincinnati Police Department (CPD) intends to use the JAG awarded funding to focus on violent crimes, specifically homicides, robberies, and felonious assaults. The response is data driven, and the overall goal is to reduce violent crimes across the City of Cincinnati by placing police officers in identified violent crime locations to conduct covert investigations.
The Sexual Assault Advocate (SSA) plays a crucial role as a liaison between the victim, the police, and the court system. They provide invaluable face-to-face support to sexual assault victims during both police interviews and court appearances. Additionally, the SSA ensures that victims have access to vital resources such as hotline support, safety planning, relocation assistance, civil and criminal court accompaniment, therapy, and hospital accompaniment. By offering a comprehensive range of services, the SSA aims to provide holistic support and assistance to survivors of sexual assault.
Hamilton County - Enhancing Adjudication will help to inform and provide the courts with safe community release options for detainees and offenders identified with medium-risk and high need profiles; thereby, reserving local jail resources for high-risk, dangerous offenders who pose a threat to the local community.
