Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $780,380)
Clark County, Nevada, acting as a fiscal agent for the disparate jurisdiction consisting of Clark County and the City of Las Vegas, makes this application for Justice Assistance Grant funds of $780,380 for Clark County Programs for Justice. In Clark County, local justice and law enforcement systems face a myriad of crime-related issues. The county also seeks ways to divert both youth and adults from becoming engaged in the justice system. As the county population continues to grow as a rapid pace, JAG resources will be used to enhance services and reduce the pressures on overburdened law enforcement and court systems, while improving community safety and security in the long-term.
In order to best address the variety of challenges facing the justice community, Clark County has designed a multi-level, collaborative approach to the 2024 Justice Assistance Grant application. The application includes 18 agencies that will take on projects to address specific issues: gang-related crime; substance abuse; the cycle of homelessness and incarceration; human trafficking; domestic violence; sexual assault and abuse; education and prevention programs, particularly for youth; and strengthening law enforcement programs, particularly in the outlying areas of Clark County. The projects will serve the entirety of Clark County, an 8,064 square mile area that includes cities of Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Boulder City, Henderson, and Mesquite.
