Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $1,012,473)
Certified as a “Disparate Jurisdiction,” the City of Memphis along with Shelby County, Tennessee are submitting a joint application for funds in the amount of $1,012,473 as allocated under the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program FY 2024 Local Solicitation.
As so prescribed by the JAG guidelines, and by mutual consent, Shelby County is designated as the applicant/fiscal agent for the program. The City of Memphis has agreed to be a sub grantee of the funds and to split the funds evenly. Specifically, both governments have agreed to the following distribution of funds.
The funds would be used to reduce violent crime, improve program compliance among justice-involved clients, improve program infrastructure, and provide information technology upgrades to improve the effectiveness of the local criminal justice system. The projects outlined in our proposal have a timeline for completion of two years with most projects being funded over a one-year period. On the following pages, you will find individual problem statements, project descriptions, goals, objectives, and outcomes.
