Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $84,045)

The goals of this project are to take a holistic approach to positively impacting gang related violence in the State of New Hampshire by utilizing focused and strategic enforcement.

This multi-faceted approach will (1) help educate law enforcement across the state on how to better investigate gang related gun crime by the use of NIBIN (National Integrated Ballistic Information Network, NESS (NIBIN Enforcement Support System), and E-Trace - (2) to encourage and increase the use of NIBIN by making access to required equipment and programs more readily accessible, which will increase the amount of correlations and intelligence associated with gang gun violence - (3) to prevent firearms from illegally entering circulation via the criminal element by increasing the amount of NICS (National Instant Criminal Background Check System) reports filed for prohibited persons based on specifically on use/possession - which are closely associated with gang activity.
