Utah Violent Cold Case Crime Initiative

FY24 SAKI funding will allow us to leverage partnerships, experience, technology, and expertise to expand beyond sexual assaults and sexually motivated homicides to include all unresolved violent cold case crimes. The project is titled Utah Violent Cold Case Crime Initiative. Once the SAKI inventory is created, cold case numbers will increase. DPS respectfully requests funding from the Bureau of Justice Assistance to expand the SAKI initiative to continue to lead out on issues and support our multidisciplinary partners. DPS is committed to professional investigations, deployment of cutting-edge technology/science, and victim support. DPS believes they can prevent cases from going cold in the first place by learning from those that already are.
