Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $487,500)
As the incumbent and highly experienced technical and training provider for the Center for Task Force Training™ (CenTF) Program since inception, the Institute for Intergovernmental Research (IIR) is uniquely positioned with the infrastructure, expertise, and results-driven reputation to seamlessly continue support for the CenTF Program. Building upon the work previously undertaken by CenTF and CenTF’s Center for Task Force Leadership and Integrity, IIR is requesting funding to continue to support and enhance the effectiveness of the management of multijurisdictional task force operations.
Through IIR’s support and collaboration with the Bureau of Justice Assistance, the CenTF Program will provide TTA and guidance that addresses the management, organization, and operation of MJTFs. Primary training activities will include the coordination and delivery of classroom-based Fundamentals of Effective Task Force Operations training; continued support for the 2024 released virtual Effective Task Force Operations course and other online certificate-based courses; customized virtual MJTF subject matter expert sessions; and webinars, podcasts, and virtual SME peer-to-peer exchanges. Additional services will include the maintenance of the CenTF website and secured-access CTFLI training portal. IIR will also maintain and expand as appropriate its cadre of multijurisdictional subject matter experts approved by the Bureau of Justice Assistance. IIR will ensure that all training reflects the latest trends and emerging issues, sophisticated multimedia aids, and relevant data, and will utilize automated and manual methods for collecting performance metrics.
IIR will continue to promote integrity and accountability within the task forces by emphasizing emerging promising practices and evidence-based standards to reduce liability and enhance officer safety and effectiveness.
