Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2022, $500,000)

The Hualapai Indian Tribe will expand their Dropout Prevention Program. Hualapai Education and Training Department identified goals and objectives designed to create a system that consolidates resources available to students to a centralized hub that can be easily accessed by students, schools, and families. The goals include developing a system to identify and address dropout causes, implement systems to foster the growth of future Hualapai leaders, and to increase parent involvement. After an extensive planning effort, these objectives and activities have been identified to build upon the tribe’s strengths and opportunities while addressing the weaknesses and threats. The Dropout Prevention Coordinator will lead the activities with assistance from the various members of the dropout prevention committee. Additionally, the program will form a parent committee that will meet and discuss education topics on a regular basis. The committees will be formed early in the project and will meet regularly throughout the project. Together they will implement a coordinated effort to address the challenges our youth face in completing high school.
