Nisqually Healing to Wellness Court

The Nisqually Indian Tribe is proposing to develop a Juvenile Tribal Healing to Wellness Court. The project will assist the Tribe in developing the procedures, systems, feasibility analysis, and strategic plan to begin implementation of a wellness court serving juveniles within the Nisqually Indian Community. The Tribe has completed the basic program infrastructure, initial staff recruitment, and operating policies to allow the wellness court to readily begin to operate. The project is part of a comprehensive effort on behalf of the Tribe to address the increasingly serious problem of alcohol and opioid/drug use, and related crime, within the reservation population and among Tribal youth and young adults.
