The Iowa Department of Justice, Attorney General's Crime Victim Assistance Division (CVAD) is implementing the Iowa Victim Information and Notification Program (IVIN) - also known as a Statewide Automated Victim Information and Notification (SAVIN) program. IVIN will provide Iowa's victim's of crime with information on their offender's custody status twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. The system will connect all of the various participating agencies, allowing for exchange of vital information, to ensure victims are informed of their offender's status.
SAVIN programs benefit the public by providing victims of crime with accurate and timely information about the status of their offender and court events related to their case. In this way, victims are able to fully participate in the judicial process, make sound decisions to protect themselves from further victimization, and make sure their rights are being upheld. This information-sharing capability is also available to courts, corrections, and law enforcement officials.
IVIN will use the Global Justice XML Data Model (GJXDM) and associated implementation guidelines.
