Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $130,000)
The National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) will continue to coordinate with a national consortium of associations and individuals currently providing capital defense training and resources. The project will continue to support the design and implementation of hands-on training programs to: improve the quality of capital defense representation; enhance the training and technical assistance capacity of capital defense communities; and, establish a performance-based capital defense training model that can be replicated in the future.
NACDL will target primarily underserved areas of the country where practitioners lack sufficient resources to access existing national training opportunities and where capital prosecutions are most frequent. The training courses will include tested program models and emphasize team-based, 'bring your own case' curricula and methodologies.
