Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $223,587)

The Edward Byrne Memorial Discretionary Grants Program (Byrne Discretionary Program) helps local communities improve the capacity of local justice systems and provides for national support efforts. This project is authorized and funded through a line item in the FY 08 Congressional Budget. Funds should be used for purposes recommended by Congress.

The Rose Hill Police Department will update and upgrade their three disparate data systems and fully integrate them into one data system. The storage of their criminal history data, municipal court data, and police case information records has become fragmented. They will improve the efficiency of data entry, enhance data analysis for resource allocations, streamline the report of electronic submissions of criminal history record information, accident, municipal court, and fingerprint information to appropriate agencies, and significantly improve the management of case evidence and property. The proposed electronic system will also improve information tracking capabilities as well as data sharing between law enforcement agencies.
