Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $1,210,000)

The Integrated Justice Information Systems (IJIS) Institute will support Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR) technology activities. The continuation and expansion of the SAR Implementation project is referred to as the SAR Expanded Evaluation Environment. The IJIS Institute will provide support intended to implement and document the National SAR Information Sharing Initiative by establishing nine additional operational evaluation environments to test and study mechanisms and processes for the gathering, analysis, and sharing of SAR information. Additionally, IJIS will: perform an analysis to determine the viability of nationally adopting the SAR business processes; validate and verify the accuracy and completeness of previously defined SAR Information Exchange Packet Documents data flows, models, and standards; identify and frame issues that affect SAR sharing; and, update as necessary the SAR Shared Space User Portal and user interface to accommodate up to nine additional SAR evaluation sites in the United States.
