Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $178,870)

The Edward Byrne Memorial Discretionary Grants Program (Byrne Discretionary Program) helps local communities improve the capacity of local justice systems and provides for national support efforts. This project is authorized and funded through a line item in the FY 08 Congressional Budget. Funds should be used for purposes recommended by Congress.

SHARE, Inc. will support the Morgan County Domestic Violence Program to improve domestic violence and sexual assault victim services in Morgan and Logan Counties. They will provide training opportunities for all project partners, allied agencies, and community members. SHARE, Inc. will expand their education and community training component to communities in Logan, Washington, and Yuma Counties. In addition, they plan to enhance services and begin assisting other communities with children's programs. They will support the Supervised Visitation and Safe Exchange Project to enable more families have a safe and conflict-free environment while conducting court-ordered visitation. SHARE, Inc. will also conduct needed improvements and maintenance at the county domestic violence shelter.
