The County of Mahoning will ensure that each participant in the Mahoning County Felony Drug Court program receives the appropriate level of treatment, including those who are medically indigent. The primary objective of the program is to provide participants the treatment necessary to understand the nature and consequences of addiction and the tools required to ensure that they will no longer engage in criminal behavior. The program has three phases: 1) Treatment, which addresses treatment needs and urgent life domain issues (e.g., emergency housing); 2) Life Skills, which addresses longer term issues, such as developing a support network and finding independent housing and employment; and 3) Transition, which assists participants in establishing lifelong goals and transitioning to their external support network. The minimum length of stay in the program is one year, with a requirement of six continuous months of sobriety.
