The Edward Byrne Memorial Discretionary Grants Program (Byrne Discretionary Program) helps local communities improve the capacity of local justice systems and provides for national support efforts. This project is authorized and funded through a line item in the FY 08 Congressional Budget. Funds should be used for purposes recommended by Congress.
The Tulare County Office of the District Attorney will implement the ACTION (Agricultural Crime Technology, Information, and Operations Network) Project. They will support the maintenance of the agricultural crime database (agcrime.net) which links thirteen (13) partnership counties who share crime loss and recovery information that has occurred within each county in real time over the internet. The Tulare County Office of the District Attorney will help sustain activities with the California Central Valley Rural Crime Task Force, and work to include additional counties and other states in the nation into the ACTION project. The ACTION project seeks to stem the tide of agricultural related crime and provide protection for the agricultural infrastructure through technology, innovation, research, data analysis, networking, coordination, education, and linking together specialized agricultural law enforcement units in a whole region within the ACTION project.
