Firearms training simulator

The Edward Byrne Memorial Discretionary Grants Program (Byrne Discretionary Program) helps local communities improve the capacity of local justice systems and provides for national support efforts. This project is authorized and funded through a line item in the FY 08 Congressional Budget. Funds should be used for purposes recommended by Congress.

The city of Missoula will purchase a simulator to conduct use-of-force and scenario-based training for the Missoula Police Department (MPD) personnel in an effort to improve their ability to de-escalate violent situations in their community. The scenario-based training will be available for all officers at the MPD and some non-departmental personnel from western Montana.
