Washington County Recovery Mentor Program

The Edward Byrne Memorial Discretionary Grants Program (Byrne Discretionary Program) helps local communities improve the capacity of local justice systems and provides for national support efforts. This project is authorized and funded through a line item in the FY 08 Congressional Budget. Funds should be used for purposes recommended by Congress.

Washington County will use the grant funds to support the Washington County Recovery Mentor Program. The program provides drug-free housing, employment, socialization, and peer mentoring assistance for offenders prior to release from prison. The program will support offenders until they are regularly attending support groups and drug-treatment sessions.
