This project is authorized and funded through a line item in the FY 08 Congressional Budget. Funds should be used for purposes recommended by Congress.

The Phoenix House of New England will increase the capacity of the criminal justice system to reduce the incidence of drug abuse and related crimes. They will increase their organizational capacity to treat drug and alcohol disordered offenders in Merrimack and Belknap Counties, New Hampshire. They will employ an additional clinical staff to serve participants. They opened a new facility that will offer a new level of care for the target population; short-term, and medium intensity residential services. The new beds will be available on a preferential basis to eligible offenders referred by the New Hampshire Department of Corrections, county corrections units, the courts, other criminal justice agencies, and other eligible clients as space permits.
