The Edward Byrne Memorial Discretionary Grants Program (Byrne Discretionary Program) helps local communities improve the capacity of local justice systems and provides for national support efforts. This project is authorized and funded through a line item in the FY 08 Congressional Budget. Funds should be used for purposes recommended by Congress.
The County of Luzerne, Pennsylvania will expand the existing number of individuals served through the Luzerne County Treatment Court system. They will increase the number of clients served with mental health drug treatment services. The County of Luzerne will address the increase in drug trafficking and related criminal activity during the implementation of this project.
