Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $1,946,000)

The Institute for Intergovernmental Research (IIR) will support justice information sharing efforts by providing services to support the Global Justice Information Sharing Initiative (Global). This project, on behalf of the U.S. Attorney General, Office of Justice Programs (OJP), and BJA, will facilitate the broadscale exchange of pertinent justice and public safety data, as well as the promotion of standards-based electronic information exchange in a secure and trusted environment. IIR will support justice information sharing by providing services in the following areas: facilitation of Global and related activities; support to information sharing capability development, training, and technical assistance; coordination and delivery of criminal intelligence training; and support to complementary standards-based activities that leverage Global products and resources. IIR will provide management support to project leaders; schedule, coordinate, and facilitate meetings; develop and distribute products and tools that benefit the justice community; coordinate and deliver intelligence training to fusion centers, commanders, and chief executives; and, maintain and support the OJP IT Web site as a one-stop resource for justice practitioners.
