The disparate jurisdictions of the County of Stark and the City of Canton will utilize their Fiscal Year 2008 JAG award in the amount of $41,104 to purchase law enforcement equipment. Both jurisdictions agreed that the County will serve as the fiscal agent and disburse $16,441.60 to the City of Canton. Stark County Sheriff's Office will purchase workstations and associated software licenses for StarCom, which is the jurisdiction's communications center. The existing workstations were purchased in 2001 and have exceeded their lifespan. The new workstations will increase efficiency and improve communications. The Canton Police Department will use funds to purchase evidence tracking software. This software is expected to improve storage and tracking of evidence and property, and enhance the delivery of police services.
