Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2009, $149,555)

The National Center for State Courts (NCSC) will create and distribute user-friendly products designed to improve the identification, investigation, and prosecution of elder abuse cases. NCSC is currently developing an Elder Abuse Toolkit for the courts that focuses on use-ability and distills key information and presents it in a manner that encourages use by professionals in the field. They will expand the toolkit concept beyond the court community to create tools for service providers, law enforcement, and prosecution that promote awareness and accountability. The toolkit will contain three user-friendly products: Tools and Strategies to Identify, Investigate, and Prosecute Elder Abuse; Performance Measures of Elder Abuse Cases: A Systemic Approach; and Implementing a Systemic Community Approach to Combat Elder Abuse. The deliverables, which will be developed in consultation with national experts and reviewed by professionals in the field, will be made available for key associations to distribute at conferences and trainings and be online at NCSC's website. The availability of the toolkit in both online and print forms will improve accessibility and ensure broad impact in the field. NCA/NCF
