Teton County will use FY 2009 enhancement grant funds to support training and expand drug court program partnerships and services. The program will host a drug abuse recognition training in November 2009 in partnership with the Jackson police department. The training will provide twenty-four hours of training in the methods of recognizing and identifying persons under the influence of a controlled substance through a regulated seven step process that is recognized for its accuracy. The target audience for the training include court officers, bailiffs, police officers, counselors, and school personnel. A second training is planned for February 2010 in partnership with the Curran-Seley Foundation. The proposed February training will facilitate the orientation of attorneys, probation officers, health professionals, and drug court professionals with A.S.A.M. criteria in order to better understand assessment and treatment recommendations in relation to DUI/Drug Court eligibility criteria and services. The program will also focus on the coordination and implementation of joint home visits with law enforcement, as well as expanded treatment services for participants including nutrition, acupuncture, and movement therapy.
