The Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program is designed to assist states, state courts, local courts, units of local government, and Indian tribal governments in developing and establishing drug courts for substance-abusing adult and juvenile offenders. Drug court programs funded by the Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program are required by law to target nonviolent offenders. The program supports the following activities: adult drug court implementation, single jurisdiction drug court implementation, statewide drug court enhancement, and planning efforts.

The Judicial Council of California, Administrative Office of the Courts will use Drug Court Statewide Enhancement funds to support the California Drug Court Database Project to develop and support the implementation and enhancement of a statewide drug court data collection and management system. Project staff will collect information on drug court databases in California and other states, establish a multi-agency project working group, develop recommendations for the creation of a statewide database and data collection protocol, pilot test a database prototype, and initiate the statewide implementation of the database.
