The Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program is designed to assist states, state courts, local courts, units of local government, and Indian tribal governments in developing and establishing drug courts for substance-abusing adult and juvenile offenders. Drug court programs funded by the Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program are required by law to target nonviolent offenders. The program supports the following activities: adult drug court implementation, single jurisdiction drug court enhancement, statewide drug court enhancement, and planning efforts.
The County of San Bernadino Superior Court, in conjunction with the Rancho Cucamonga Superior Court, provides intensive outpatient services primarily to individuals who are addicted to methamphetamine. These cases account for over seventy percent of the program's treatment population. The program will utilize enhancement grant funds to: add specialized women's treatment services to address the abuse and trauma that are particularly common with methamphetamine users; add addiction medical services; provide staff training programs with justice professionals, treatment providers, and others regarding the drug court; and add fifteen additional treatment slots. The program's goals are to: promote healthy relationships, thinking, behavior, and emotions within the clients; provide for integrated treatment; and focus on life skills development.
