Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2009, $300,000)
The Bureau of Justice Assistance's (BJA) Adult Drug Court Training and Technical Assistance Initiative supports the Adult Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program (42 U.S.C. 3797u et seq.), which assists communities in developing effective drug court strategies for nonviolent substance-abusing offenders. The technical assistance provider will assist state and local justice system officials and treatment professionals in addressing issues relating to planning, implementing, managing, and evaluating drug court programs in their jurisdictions and manage the National Drug Court Resource Center.
The National Association of Drug Court Professionals/National Drug Court Institute (NDCI), in partnership with the Council of State Governments (CSG), will create a state-of the art NDCRC to serve the Drug Court and general public community in the same way that great public libraries serve their communities. Thus, NDCI and CSG will depend heavily on technology to create a 'Virtual Drug Court/Public Library.' Under this initiative, NDCI and CSG will (1) maintain the National Drug Court Database; (2) develop and maintain a searchable, online map of all U.S. Drug Courts; (3) collect, catalog, maintain and make available exemplary Drug Court operational policies, procedures, forms and other documents; (4) develop and disseminate resources on national, state and local Drug Court activity and operations; and (5) support federal agencies and national partners with Drug Court information.
