Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2009, $1,000,000)

The Center for Court Innovation (the Center) will provide training and technical assistance to Problem-Solving Courts. They will conduct technical assistance to promote the implementation of problem-solving, community-based practices nationwide, focusing the energies of the justice system on achieving more meaningful outcomes for victims, communities, litigants and defendants. The Center will seek to ensure that problem-solving practices are disseminated and utilized nationwide. The overall goal of the Problem-Solving Courts Training and Technical Assistance Initiative is to help judges, court administrators, prosecutors, defense attorneys and other innovators around the country gain the knowledge and the confidence they need to plan, implement, sustain, evaluate and coordinate problem-solving court initiatives, particularly those that seek to engage the public in doing justice and improve public confidence in courts.
