Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2009, $250,000)

The National Alliance for Drug Endangered Children (NADEC) will provide resources, technical assistance, and training to communities prepared to address the problems associated with raising children in dangerous drug environments. NADEC will: support state and local DEC alliances to engage in a multidisciplinary approach to ensure linkages and provisions of appropriate services for drug endangered children; maintain an online resource center with a mechanism for online technical assistance; plan and host distant learning opportunities for all stakeholders involved in responding to and serving drug endangered children; continue work on developing multidisciplinary trainings and resources for the field; and continue involvement with the expert working group members who serve as advisors to stakeholders in the field.

NADEC will be a resource to help State DEC Alliances become operational and effective. Additionally, they will partner with the State DEC Alliances to be a resource in helping to develop local DEC collaborations. NADEC will support effective and sustainable state and community efforts to protect children, families, and communities from substance abusing problems.
