Grant funds can be used for state and local initiatives, technical assistance, training, personnel, equipment, supplies, contractual support, and information systems for criminal justice, including for any one or more of the following purpose areas: 1) law enforcement programs; 2) prosecution and court programs; 3) prevention and education programs; 4) corrections and community corrections programs; 5) drug treatment and enforcement programs; 6) planning, evaluation, and technology improvement programs; and 7) crime victim and witness programs (other than compensation).

The disparate jurisdictions consisting of city of Dublin and Laurens County will use their JAG award to support equipment purchases to increase intelligence and communications across the county. The city of Dublin, acting as the fiscal agent, will purchase equipment for the Dublin Police Department. The Dublin Police Department will upgrade department computer and communications equipment through the purchase and use of laptop computers, a high-speed scanner, laser fax/printer/copier/telephone machine, laser printer, LCD computer monitors, and other related equipment. Laurens County will, for the Laurens County Sheriff's Office, upgrade technology and provide for officer and public safety by purchasing desktop computers, monitors, printers, Microsoft Office licenses, color cameras and related equipment, and stop stick devices.
