The Institute for Intergovernmental Research (IIR) will continue the State and Local Anti-Terrorism Training (SLATT) Program which provides specialized multi-agency terrorism detection, investigation, and interdiction training and related services to state, local, and tribal law enforcement and prosecution authorities throughout the United States. The overarching goal of the project is to increase the effectiveness of state and local law enforcement professionals in identifying pre-incident terrorism indicators and preventing acts of terrorism. IIR utilizes a multi-faceted approach to provide regional training sessions and technical assistance on terrorism prevention matters, prepare and disseminate publications related to the counter-terrorism efforts of state and local law enforcement, and offer web-based education and research addressing officer safety and emerging trends in the terrorism prevention arena.
