Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2009, $236,318)

The Upper Midwest Community Policing Institute (UMCPI) will enhance the effectiveness of the Human Trafficking Justice System consistent with the goals of the Trafficking Victim's Protection Act and its reauthorizations. The project will develop a community-based, data driven national program of training targeted to both formal and informal Human Trafficking Task Forces. UMCPI will enhance the knowledge and skills of Human Trafficking investigators to build on their capacity to identify and rescue victims, and conduct investigations resulting in increased Human Trafficking prosecutions. UMCPI provides nationwide delivery of Human Trafficking Awareness training and Immersion Learning. They have established the capacity and network for the delivery of additional training in support of the Act.
