Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2012, $299,993)
The International Association of Chief of Police, in cooperation with the Bureau of Justice Assistance, will continue to support a national training and technical assistance program known as the Center for Social Media. IACP will build the capacity of law enforcement to use Web 2.0 technology and social media tools to improve and enhance agency operations and strengthen police-community relations. Project objectives are to: (1) document the use of Web 2.0 technology in law enforcement agencies; (2) create practical tools and resources to enable law enforcement personnel to develop or enhance their use of Web 2.0 technology; (3) deliver training and technical assistance to build law enforcement capacity to integrate Web 2.0 technology into their agency operations; and (4) continually assess project activities.
