Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2012, $325,000)

The American Bar Association (ABA), through their Rule of Law Initiative (ROLI), will use $850,000 of International Narcotics Control and Law Enforcement (INCLE) funds, appropriated by the Department of State, Foreign Operations and Related Programs Appropriation Act (SFOAA) 2008 to support the Regional Anti-Corruption Advisor (RACA) program in Asia. The Bureau of Justice Assistance awarded these grant funds (through the BJA FY10 Solicited solicitation) to the ABA on behalf the State Department. The RACA will provide advice, capacity building, and technical assistance to both government and non-governmental organizations in selected countries in the Asia Pacific region in fighting corruption and in promoting transparency and good governance. The goal of ABA ROLI's Asia anti-corruption program is to support implementation of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation's 'Course of Action on Anti-Corruption and Transparency' (Course of Action) initiative. RACA will continue to build local institutional and individual capacity to address the problem of corruption. NCA/NCF
