Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2010, $60,615)
The purpose of the Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program (42 U.S.C. 3797u et seq.) is to provide financial and technical assistance to states, state courts, local courts, units of local government, and Indian tribal governments to develop and implement drug treatment courts that effectively integrate substance abuse treatment, mandatory drug testing, sanctions and incentives, and transitional services in a judicially supervised court setting with jurisdiction over nonviolent, substance-abusing offenders. The FY 2010 Adult Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program will provide grant funds to jurisdictions to implement or enhance a local drug court or to improve, enhance, expand, or financial support drug court services statewide.
The Jefferson County Recovery Court (JCRC) is a post-plea intensive supervision probation revocation drug court. JCRC will use grant funds to provide training to the entire JCRC team. The objectives of training are to 1) ensure program goals, objectives, policies and procedures are understood by all team members; 2) solidify professional relationships among team members to promote a spirit of commitment and collaboration; 3) learn about the most current, evidenced based practices 4) reinforce a non-adversarial approach through team building; 5) focus on strategies for providing a continuum of treatment; 6) ensure knowledge of new drug detection strategies; 7) participate in team building and self assessment; 8) enhance program evaluation plan as a team; and 9) learn how to create and foster effective community partnerships.
