The Newark Police Department will use its 2010 Justice Assistance Grant ($45,416) to boost its crime reduction and prevention strategy. The funds will be used by the Police Department to purchase a license plate reader camera system and two surveillance cameras to expand the downtown surveillance camera system. The decision to use the JAG grant funds in this way reflects a commitment to ensuring the health, safety and protection of the citizens of Newark. The police department will submit the required programmatic and fiscal reports to keep all interested parties apprised of the coordinated effort of moving forward toward the goal of preventing and reducing crime in Newark.
