Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2010, $157,186)

The Statewide Automated Victim Information and Notification (SAVIN) program ensures victims of crime receive accurate and timely information regarding the status of offenders and events related to their cases. Through SAVIN, victims are able to participate in the judicial process and make sound decisions to protect themselves from further victimization while maintaining total anonymity. This information-sharing capability is also available to courts, corrections, and law enforcement officials.

The New Mexico Administrative Office of the District Attorneys (AODA) will be using their 2010 SAVIN Enhancement funds to manage the enhancement of the Statewide Automated Victim Information and Notification Program (SAVIN). They will be adding text messaging and a Spanish VINE Link to the new SAVIN Program for this state. The enhancement of the New Mexico SAVIN Program should increase the number of notifications to victims. CA/NCF
