Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2011, $275,000)
Through the National Justice Information Sharing (JIS) Initiative solicitation, BJA seeks to enable the nation's criminal justice community to improve information sharing through advanced technology and tools that increase efficiency, enhance operations, and promote cost savings and reuse. The National JIS Initiative works collaboratively with key stakeholders and national partner organizations to identify critical issues and problems, and provide resources in response to emerging challenges in law enforcement, courts, corrections, reentry, human/social services, and tribal justice.
The Criminal Information Sharing Alliance will address significant multi-jurisdictional or cross-domain problems by providing operational solutions that overcome barriers to information sharing across the country, while remaining within the parameters of the recommendations of DOJ's Global Justice Information Sharing Initiative.
